In my daily digging I have also discovered little poems that I wrote and then forgot all about...So today I thought I would share one of those here. It was written as a way to lift my spirits, and it worked! Each time I read it I feel hopeful and cheered. I wrote it about 14 years ago, and it was nice to rediscover this poem:
Just the Way You Are
Be who you are
Who else could you be?
You don’t have leaves
So you can’t be a tree
Please don’t sting me
You’re not a bee
You are great as you are
Right now
Can’t you see?
You may wish that you
Were thinner
Or wish that you were fatter
But you’re beautiful
Just as you are
And that’s all that matters!
Look in the mirror
And say “I love you.”
The first time may feel weird
But it gets easier – it’s true!
You are seen
And you are oh so loved
By many here on earth
And by God up above
He loves you as you are
You don’t need to change a thing
He loves the real you
Oh what joy you bring!
