I like to do a project every year where I create art everyday. All year I have been doing "Jazz Art Play" where I listen to jazz for 15 minutes each day and doodle. I like things I can do for a small amount of time that yield big rewards. That has definitely been the case with Jazz Art Play, and with any practice done on a daily basis.
I have been thinking about it for a few months now: what will my next daily art project be?
I have marinated on it, and i think I have finally come to a decision...
I like to make my decision by considering what I would like more of in my life.
For years now, I have wanted to get organized! I feel I could get there if i just spent a bit of time doing it each day.
The other thing I have wanted for awhile now is journals that are more visually interesting.
I have 261 journals now, and i love each one. But there is something really special about the ones with lots of art in them. I would like to create journals that are visually stunning, and I know I can achieve that in tiny daily increments.
I was thinking it was a sort of boring little day...
But I collected scraps from the trash and items that represented how I spent my time. I glued them down, covered them with varnish and then with white paint. It's hard for you to tell, but I can still see the remnants of the day peeking out: the bills paid, the gift wrapped, and the wrapper from the chocolate snowman my friend sent which I ate with great gusto!
When i finished this page, I realized how many elements there are to a day in our lives.
I wrote a haiku across the top in celebration.
