I am back from Hawaii but still can't find the words to describe the amazing time I had! So more on that later...

Soon I leave for Hawaii to celebrate my 50th birthday by crossing the number one item off my bucket list. It feels so amazing, and still so unreal, like a fantasy. (Even though my credit card bill says that it's real in shocking black and white!) It occurs to me that I never really thought this dream would come true in the perfect timing that it has. (I will turn 50 in the 50th state for me to visit! So glad it turned out to be Hawaii!) Sure, I wished for it, visualized it, and dreamed about it for about the past 20 years or so...But I know now that the magic ingredient that is making this fantasy a reality is LOVE! If it wasn't for Storm and his love, kindness and generosity, I never would have been able to swing this. He has provided my spending money, several travel gifts and will take care of the dogs while I am gone. My heart overflows with gratitude, and I just wanted to acknowledge it publicly here. Just found this awesome shot of my beloved Tom. I thought I'd seen most of the photos of him, but this one was new and delightful to me. It makes me smile and feel warm inside.
I thought I would report my current word count: 34,752. I lost my focus on Friday when I realized I would be leaving in a week for my dream trip to Hawaii. When I sit down to write, I am derailed with thoughts like: "I wonder if I should bring my dad's binoculars along. Yes, because the whales will be migrating." How can I write with all these thoughts? I will resume when I return... Ok, let's face it, I will most likely resume after the holidays are over. Even though I have finished all of my holiday gifts and decorations, I somehow end up unable to focus due to the frantic holiday pace of the world. Frankly, I will be glad when it's over! PS: I just found out that it happens to be the birthday of Tom Waits today! He's 65. I wish I could bake him a cake. I only live about 4 hours from him. Oh well...Happy Birthday dear Tom! I just finished the latest masterpiece by Marney Makridakis : Hop, Skip and Jump: 75 Ways to Playfully Manifest a Meaningful Life, and couldn't wait to write my review. (Just like I couldn't wait to read it again each day!) This is a book about manifesting the life you desire, while having a great time doing it! I looked forward to reading this book each day because it was fun, hopeful and uplifting. I think we all crave these qualities as the world becomes more fast-paced and stressful. Stress makes us forget how to be child-like, so we become crabby and rigid, trudging along on auto-pilot while life passes us by. Deep down inside we know this is no way to live, but we wonder what choice we have? You'll be glad to know that Marney offers us many choices in this delightful little book: over 75 to be exact! And best of all: Marney's ideas are easy to assimilate into our already busy lives! I loved how the chapters were short and bite-sized, but filled with a bounty of colorful suggestions. They sounded so intriguing, I wanted to try them right away. The first exercise was a quiz to determine your natural inclinations when you are creating a project to share with the world. Are you a hopper, a skipper, or a jumper? I am a skipper all the way, and this book has already helped me to expand my repertoire. Take this fun quiz to find out what you are: Free Hop, Skip, Jump Quiz Marney's playful sense of humor shines through every chapter of this book, making it a delightful read, because you can tell she had fun writing it. After I was certified as an Artbundance coach through Marney's wonderful training course, we taught a class together on the subject of being of service to the world. I remember I was very nervous, and Marney suggested that I smile while I talk. She said it would calm me down, and make my discussion more fun for everyone because they would hear the smile in my voice. (She was right, of course!) I can just imagine her smiling and giggling the whole time she created this book, so I smiled and giggled many times while reading it. Wouldn't it be great if everything in life could be so fun? Read this book, and you will find out that it can! |
