My sweet friend Dar had a birthday the other day, and I plum forgot! So I gathered together some messages and images I know she'll like, along with a very inspiring tune by India Arie, and put them all together in a slide show just for her! May this year be your best year yet! I love you ~M

Forevermore
He must have eyes Like the sea To be with me And a smile Like the gleam From a dolphin’s eye Don’t ask me why. Those who ask Will never know Where the forests Of wild kelp grow Pulling us down In the undertow Sprout gills, me hearties And swim with me Deep down into Our caverns of pain Where we think we will never Emerge again But you hold the flashlight And we’ll bravely go in To face our ghostly pasts again Once and for all To be not afraid Of all of our failures And the messes we’ve made To bury there All judgment and fault Locked away forever Like a vault Are you deep enough To swim with me To these places Where sharks may be? And electric eels And sea anemones With poisonous spines That sting like bees? If you leave too quick You could get the bends What do you think? Can you handle it, friend? There are no maps But you can follow the stars A stitch in time Will take you far Along the glittering Sands of my shore I’ll meet you there Forevermore. By Marguerite Louise Bryant Waves Breaking in My Heart
An ocean wave Blue and curling On the move Racing to break Upon the shore And then to be gone Forevermore Only to be followed By another wave Waves born Miles from shore Sons and daughters Of raindrops and wind Animated by the moon’s Magnetic pull And a part of something So much larger Than they could ever dream (If waves had dreams) They bury themselves in the sand When they die And no one grieves them When they’re gone. The sand takes them in Without protest Because they are family That’s what family is Supposed to do But no longer so In these silicone days Family and blood Mean so little anymore My dad was a glacier And my mom was a star So what am I then? What am I? A wandering wind That blows through the cosmos Aimlessly it seems But there is a purpose To my wanderings That can’t be explained in words I need a new language Or an old one Long forgotten Like messages Drawn on the ancient caves I will write it with flames In the night sky So you will only know it If you’re there with me Before my words disappear You, with eyes dark blue Like the waves Breaking in my heart.
