Somehow, I feel that this is going to be "my year."
I was born in the Chinese year of the dragon, and on Jan. 23rd the year of the dragon rolls around again! I don't believe in any of that stuff as a way of telling the future, but I have always loved the idea of being connected to dragons in this way.
(I even have a dragon tattoo to prove my devotion!) Ok, it was a stupid mistake I made way-back-when, and I wish I hadn't gotten it...but that doesn't take away my love of dragons!
Anyway, where the heck was I going with this?
I guess I just wanted to wish you all a very happy new year, and encourage you to dream bright, sparkly, impossible champagne dreams for this new beginning! Sure, many of them might not come true. But some of them just might! Write them down and amaze yourself in a year when you look back at all the stuff that came true!
This journal page was inspired by a post on my friend Bill's website. I love to imagine time travel and all the places I would enjoy visiting. I created it using Christmas scraps and leftovers. The background is a paper towel that my friend used as an ink blotter. She then wrapped it around several colorful glass baubles as my Christmas gift. Of course, I couldn't just throw it away! (like a child I had more fun with the packaging than the gift!) The colors are so vibrant and lively, and "Vibrant" was my word of the year for 2011, so it seemed a good note to leave on! I also used bits of wrapping paper and the scanner label from a CD I received as a gift. The crown was made from the foil on a champagne bottle from the Christmas celebrations. The label was a true Christmas Eve Miracle find. Someone had created it using a US Priority Mail sticker, and I snatched it off the newspaper dispenser they stuck it to. I love urban art finds like this, and leave many of my own here and there for others to find.
I wrote a little poem in the center that says:
Such a lush life it would be
If I were to visit gay Paris
Me: On my own in the city of lights!
Picasso days
and Hemingway nights!
So, what are your champagne dreams?
Share them with me here, and we'll clink glasses and sing Aud Lang Syne together!
I appreciate your
