The journal page above is a "patchwork" I made from some of the more colorful notes in my Good Year Box. It was fun reading through them all on New Year's Eve and remembering the year I had. I saved "the best of" in an envelope labeled "2013 Happiness." I enjoyed this so much that I am doing it again this year. The whole ritual only takes a couple of moments, but it's really making a positive difference in my life!
For the entire year of 2013, I did a cool thing where I wrote down the best thing that happened each day and put it into a cigar box dubbed "The Good Year Box." I also made a point to really let that goodness from each day soak into my heart and bones; as recommended by Dr. Rick Hanson in a practice that he calls "taking in the good." He liked my Good Year Box idea so much that he decided to put it into his new book (page 95) called "Hardwiring Happiness." It's all about simple ways to train your brain to be biased toward happiness. I'm reading my copy now and really enjoying it. Dr. Rick (as I affectionately call him) has a real knack for taking difficult scientific information and making it easy for anyone to understand. Check out his book here.

How exciting to have your idea in his book! I love your journal pages above. The man with the cat on his head is wonderful, and the puppy breath is crazy fun, too. There's all kinds of fantastic elements to look at!

Hi M, How Sweet! I love it. What a fantabulous creation. I send you so much LOVE. My mantra today is" WHAT WOULD LOVE DO . . ." and then listening and doing that instead of something else xoxoxo Love, Love, Love, D'Rose

love this. it reminds me of a fiber artist friend of mine that strung threads each day as her kind of 'diary'. sometimes she stripped soda cans into tiny shreds and put those in her little 'diaries of threads'. there were no words but you could see by the colors of threads, beads, materials, what dire need was arising or what kind of day it was.
