When I was in 2nd grade, I won a first place ribbon for my pipe cleaner creations. I made a house out of a shoebox, and inside was a family of pipe cleaner people with their pipe cleaner pets and furniture. I became quite obsessed!
Then when I was in 4th grade, I “made” my dad quit smoking cigarettes by finding and destroying his packs of cigs every chance I got. (and he returned the favor a few years later when I became a rebellious smoking teenager for awhile!) To help himself to quit, he took up pipe smoking briefly. I found this pack of pipe cleaners in his stuff, and they are about 30 years old or more. They are different than the pipe cleaners of today, and seem to be wrapped in cotton. I’ve held onto them for a long time, wanting to use them for something really special. This snowman is it! And although I made this one as a gift for myself, I also made extras for good friends.
