This ordeal has taught me the importance of being able to calm myself in this crazy-paced world. The thing I noticed was that when I was upset or stressed about something, the rash got worse! So I had to find ways to mellow myself out for my own physical comfort. I want to start pampering myself more, so that I have a reservoir of self care built up inside. It makes sense that it would strengthen the immune system, and the whole system in general. I know we are so much more than “systems,” mind you... But when one of those internal systems goes haywire, it's very scarey.
Here are some items I intend to keep on hand for pampering myself in the future:
- Kava tea calms me and helps me to recompose myself when stressed
- What comforts you when you get sick? Mine are wonton soup and Vernors soda (ever a Michigan gal!) I keep these on hand at all times so that I have them when the need arises.
- Fresh aloe, vitamin E gels and lavender oil saved my skin and kept me from turning into a lizard woman
How do you take care of yourself and calm yourself in these fast-paced times? We can all learn new ideas from eachother!
PS: The journal page above was made by drawing a blind contour drawing of myself, turning that into a stencil and then spray painting the design onto scrapbook paper.
